The Complaint Resolution Officer (CRO) reports to the Title IX Officer/Director of the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD). Under general direction, the CRO assumes major responsibility for responding to complaints of harassment and discrimination, exercising independent judgment in the intake, informal resolution, and formal investigation of complaints and in establishing strategies for the resolution of identified problems. The CRO independently provides impartial consultation, conflict resolution, and problem solving in response to complaints and inquiries received from members of the campus community and affiliates, including faculty, staff, students, parents, and UCSD Healthcare employees. The CRO makes recommendations to the Director, or, where appropriate, directly to campus administrators or other individuals, and may recommend changes to procedure to insure institutional equity and fairness. The Complaint Resolution Officer also trains management and supervisory personnel regarding the interpretation of University non-discrimination policies and the University’s obligations under those policies. In addition, the CRO develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates education programs regarding discrimination issues for the entire campus community, including programs satisfying the state-mandated sexual harassment prevention training for supervisors.
