|Description||University of Nevada, Las Vegas is currently seeking applications for an Assistant Director, Black Mountain Institute.
The Assistant Director (AD) of Black Mountain Institute (BMI) creates and manages BMI's financial operations, marketing, and public relations, and provides support for program and fundraising activities. Because the Director and Associate Director of BMI have 10-month faculty contracts, the AD has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of BMI for two months of one year.
The AD also assists in the planning and management of the Diana L. Bennett Fellows program, the BMI Liberal Arts Faculty Fellows program, the BMI Book Club, and the Readings & Panels series, and is responsible for producing promotional materials and publicizing BMI's events through various print, online, and broadcast media outlets. The AD organizes major public lectures and private donor receptions. In addition, the AD must update and maintain BMI's website and social networking presence; write and design BMI's monthly e-newsletter; oversee graduate student workers; and actively nurture BMI's new partnership with UNLV's Creative Writing Program. The AD also represents BMI, a Vegas Valley Book Festival Producing Sponsor, on its steering and literary committees.
Furthermore, the AD also manages and edits a nationally recognized literary journal, WITNESS, housed at the Black Mountain Institute. AD also assists in the management of INTERIM magazine also housed at BMI.
