ROLE of the POSITION
This position is responsible for developing and managing the university's social media strategy (specifically for UNLV Advancement and Athletics). This includes coordinating with stakeholders across campus to enhance and protect the university's image and reputation, increase brand equity and awareness, build relationships with external stakeholders and promote the university's mission in all social media platforms.
The social media director sets the tone, philosophy and strategy for the university's Web 2.0 efforts, gains appropriate buy-in, and then communicates with internal stakeholders. This position is also responsible for drafting policy and offering the campus guidance and best practices. The social media director will be called on to speak publicly as a thought-leader on the university's social media strategy as well as emerging social media trends and general best practices.
The social media director drives, monitors and responds to UNLV social media activities. This position develops social media campaigns and manages day-to-day activities, including editorial writing, e-newsletter management, community outreach efforts, promotions, advocacy, etc. This position actively seeks to build a network of university ambassadors, advocates for the university, and engages in dialogue and answers questions where appropriate. This position is also responsible for setting benchmarks and measures to analyze, review and report on the effectiveness of campaigns.
This position will report to University Communications and UNLV Athletics.
