|Description||University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois is seeking a Social Worker.
Social Worker: In a social service setting, assists with programs such as: child abuse/neglect; permanency planning; family-centered services; prevention of juvenile delinquency; care, treatment, and education of youth; self-sufficiency assistance, employment, and related support services; health insurance/Medicaid; provider services or the location of non-custodial parents; and/or modification of child support and medical support orders for children. Assesses the needs of individuals, performs adaptive tests and psychological screening, provides family counseling, and participates as a member of a developmental team. Defines the social and cultural environment in which an individual's family exists. Develops community and University resources and makes appropriate referrals. Identifies emotional supports needed to deal with mental health issues, helps families negotiate through bureaucracies in order to obtain financial and other assistance, and provides information to the developmental team concerning the psycho- social needs of the individual and their family. Ensures clients receive services according to identified needs. In a clinical setting, provides brief psychodynamic, cognitive, group, individual, and behavioral psychotherapeutic counseling. Provides clinical diagnostic evaluation and assessment of clients. Provides emergency and crisis intervention services. Documents all pertinent information. Establishes relationships with various social worker departments within the University as well as community agencies at the local and state levels. Provides follow-up care as is necessary, via appointments, visits, or telephone contact with patients, students, families, and/or public health nurses. Documents developmental care in records.
