Description UC San Francisco in San Francisco, California is seeking a Software Engineer.

The software engineer will report to the Division of Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dental Sciences; the software engineer will work on NIH funded research projects that focus on improving the design and analysis of oral health studies; this exciting work will allow both the dental and medical community to discover important biological disease candidates that predict treatment effectiveness, which may ultimately translate to tailored therapies for improved patient care; he/she will develop and maintain new and existing code for simulation experiments that compare analytic methods to new statistical methods and participate in the development of open-source software; and he/she will provide software testing frameworks, quality control, data analysis, and advanced levels of research support (literature review, report and grant writing, project management); participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned; the software engineer will be required to work with a high level of day to day independence under general guidance, and be an active participant in the research team; will also perform other duties as assigned. Note: This position is a one year, 50% position with an anticipated end date of September 30, 2012.
