The day will feature a dramatic procession of banners and drums through the city centre, traditional costumes, live music, song and dance. Food from various cultures will also be blessed and shared with the crowd.
Lady Godiva famously rode her horse naked through the city's streets in protest of how harshly her nobleman husband taxed his tenants.
Godiva's charitable work has been continued by local woman Pru Porretta, who was appointed by the council as Godiva's 'modern-day' representative in 1982.
In 1999 she decided to resurrect 'Dame Goodyver's Day', over five-hundred years after it was first celebrated on the day of Lady Godiva's death in 1067.
Godiva Sisters paradeView gallery Today, there are eighteen 'Godiva Sisters', including 'Irish Sister' Angela Hart from Coventry Irish Society and 'Asylum Sister' Anastasia Chokuwamba from Coventry Refugee Centre.
The heritage day is unique to Coventry, and is designed to celebrate the city's history and its current multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-faith community.
The Lord Mayor of Coventry, children from local schools and community groups will take part in the day's events. 'Dame Goodyver's Day' begins at 11am.
