30th Street Senior Center is a member of the On Lok family of senior services that provides a wide variety of services for persons over 60 years of age. They include educational and recreational activities, its’ health promotion program Always Active, case management and social services, as well as hot and nutritious meals to older adults in San Francisco.

POSITION SUMMARY:
30th Street Senior Center is now seeking a Health & Fitness Coordinator/Supervisor. Under the management of the Senior Center Director, the Health & Fitness Coordinator/Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Always Active Program at nine sites and the 30th Street Senior Center’s Health & Wellness Program. These activities include education coordination, outreach, training, conducting exercise classes and supervision of exercise leaders and collection and analysis of data regarding senior participation and program outcomes.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates, supervises, and evaluates the Healthier Living-Chronic Disease Management program services and staff.
2. Supervises and evaluates the Always Active program coordinators and 30th Street staff exercise leaders.
3. Conducts periodic audits and ensures grant compliance in all health promotion programs and services.
4. Develops, revises and maintains all policies, procedures and components of the Always Active Program and manual.
5. Serves as lead agency liaison with community, program partners, and strategic alliances.
6. Coordinates and facilitates Always Active Partners’ meetings with Healthier Living-Chronic Disease Self-Management Program coalition meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
• BA in Recreation Management, Physical/health education, Exercise Science, Business, or equivalent preferred.
• Three years management experience in recreation, fitness industry, or related field required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish REQUIRED.
• Work experience with older adults preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers strongly required.
• Excellent writing skills helpful.
• Must have access to a vehicle, a current California Driver’s License, and a clean driving record.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of 30th Street Senior Center Director, the Activities Coordinator/Supervisor is responsible for the planning, provision, and supervision of educational and recreational programs and activities for Senior Center participants. Trains, supervises and evaluates activity program volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plans and implements all recreational and life-long learning opportunities appropriate for ethnically diverse older adults based on program participants needs and requests, staff suggestions, and OOA contract requirements.
• Plans for, implements, and supervises Center revenue generating activities and fundraising events to support the activities program.
• Assists the Director & On Lok’s Development Dept. with the writing of grants and reports that support the Activities Program.
• Coordinates & supervises the Center for Elder & Youth Arts program and the Posit Science Brain Fitness programs.
• Facilitates effectively the weekly meeting of the Program Committee of the Senior Advisory Council to maximize senior citizen participation on a consistent basis.
• Ensures that the monthly Community Services units of service report for the Department of Aging and Adults Services contract is completed accurately and before the fifth working day of the month.
• Trains and supervises volunteers, interns and City College instructors who work in any aspect of the Center’s recreational and educational activities. Ensures these individuals know the Center’s policies and procedures that operate in their areas.
• Performs Staff-On-Duty responsibilities as required at least once per week, to include management of the daily operation of the Senior Center’s programs and overseeing the congregate meal service:


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• B.A. in Recreation & Leisure or related field required.
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills required.
• Experience working with active older adults and volunteers.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Community organizing and/or group facilitation skills a plus.
• Must have access to a car and have a clean DMV record.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required.
