Primary responsibilities include:

Staff Management: Directors recruit a staff of 10-40 paid canvassers and provide training, ongoing support and leadership development to ensure the success of the campaign. Directors will set goals and hold staff accountable.

Canvassing: Directors canvass 4 days/week to build public support for their campaign, educate the public and identify new members and donors. Directors will lead their staff by example as the best canvassers in the country.

Administration: Directors take bottom line responsibility for the day-to-day operation of their office. This includes managing payroll, budgets and reporting campaign results.

Progressive Movement: Directors create leaders who take on more responsibility within the office and use the skills they develop in every area of their lives.

The Operations Manager will play a sizeable role in managing internal technology systems, operation processes, and facilities support for the largest charter school association in the country. The Operations Manager is also responsible for providing operational support to various priority advocacy projects as well as and coordinating a number of teams of outside consultants. The ideal candidate must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and willing to work professionally within a team of diverse people and projects. A sense of humor, ability to roll with things, and a passion for education reform will make everything more enjoyable for you and us. Prior experience in project management is required. Proficiency in data management and technology is preferred.

The California Charter Schools Association is the membership and professional organization serving the more than 900 charter schools in California. CCSA advances the charter school movement through state and local advocacy, leadership on accountability, and resources for member schools. The Operations Team, also known as SpecialOps, accelerates CCSA's impact in achieving its priority objectives by supporting all of the Association’s seven other teams to accomplish their specific goals by providing quality, cost-effective support services. Besides striving to ensure that all CCSA’s teams have the best tools and processes available with which to successfully carry out their mandates, the team also manages membership and financial services to Association members. As a consequence, the team touches all of CCSA’s activities and provides a dynamic, fast-paced environment in which all its members can have a significant impact on California’s charter school movement. Under the supervison of the Director of Community Organizing, the Community Organizer is responsible for the development of Neighborhood Action Councils(NAC's) composed of residents who live in the surrounding neighborhoods using a Relationship Based organizing model that builds on the gifts and talents of residents. The Community Organizer must have the capacity to help residents in NAC's develop deep personal bonds and form a cohesive group that meets wekly. After the group relationships are formed, residents will begin to develop and implement proojects in their neighborhood that immprove their quality of life. The Community Organizer must have the capacity to support resident efforts, assist in the development, design and implementation of community participation and outreach to parents, school, community based organizations, public agencies and business organizations throughout the target communities.
